Wyoming native, civil engineer, landscape photographer.

I originally started photography to document the amazing places I have visited in my great state of Wyoming. Landscape photography quickly bloomed into a passion. I may live in Laramie, but my heart and mind are always in the Bighorn Mountains or the Wind River Range.

I'm finding that everything Wind River Range related has been pushed back by at least a month this year, because of the crazy amounts of snow. I was planning a 4th of July weekend trip up above the Green River Lakes, but the forest service advised against it because of the anticipated extreme flooding predicted on the upper Green River. Much of the snow above 9000-100000 ft hasn't come off yet.

However, there should be exceptional backpacking in late July-September this year! Get after it!

Yeah, I can see them from my house, and they're definitely not ready yet, which is too bad. This is my first year in WY, and I came from NW Montana. The mountains there had a great deal of topographical prominence, but weren't as high, and generally had snow melt faster. This year was even bad there, so a week-long trip I just took ended with zero viable hiking. Too bad, but it wasn't worth the risk.
